Christopher Nùñez Selected for the 2018 Drama League Directing Fellowship

Each year, The Drama League selects 11 emerging stage directors for the highly coveted Directing Fellowships. Among this year’s recipients is the School of Theatre’s Christopher Nùñez. Nùñez is a first year MFA Directing candidate and a BFA Design and Technology alumnus. His directorial work at the School of Theatre includes Wanda’s Visit, Tinder, Facebook, Snapchat, Lie, and Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead (Asst. Director), Next season, Nùñez will be directing the Theatre for Young Audiences production of Pinkalicious the Musical.

 

Before returning to Florida State University, Nùñez gained notable professional experience as a Manager, Producer, and Designer. His professional credits include Associate Company Manager on Phantom of the Opera (dir. Hal Prince) and Rock of Ages, Assistant Producer for Magic Mike Live (dir. Channing Tatum), Magic Reinvented Nightly, Puppet Up!: Uncensored, and Stage Manager for The Groundlings. He spent 10 years creating and developing with BASE Entertainment. Christopher is a passionate scholar of the history of American casino entertainment and formerly served as a Docent at the Neon Museum in Las Vegas, and is a consultant on the Broadway Center, a NYC museum currently in development. Since its founding in 1984, The Drama League Directors Project has become the preeminent career development program for theatre directors. Nùñez is a recipient of the Hangar Direction Fellowship. This program is a practicum in artistic leadership of a regional theatre, where fellows lead a resident acting company in programming, directing, and producing the second stage season at the Hangar Theater in Ithaca, NY.
