Andrew Rincon Dramatist Guild Foundation Fellow

Published November 8, 2019

The Dramatists Guild Foundation has named Andrew Rincón, BA Theatre ‘13, as one of the 2019–2020 Dramatists Guild Foundation Fellows. The Dramatist Guild Foundation (DGF) is a national charity that “fuels the future of American theater” by supporting playwrights, composers, bookwriters, and lyricists through educational programs, awards, grants, stipends, and rehearsal spaces.

As a Fellow, Andrew Rincón will spend the year developing a full-length show with the support of the program’s chairs, culminating in an Off-Broadway presentation of the show. As part of the program, Andrew will receive financial support, access to guest artists, and a chance to collaborate with one of DGF’s partners to continue to develop his original work. Former Fellows include Kristen Anderson-Lopez (Frozen), Michael R. Jackson (A Strange Loop), Antoinette Nwandu (Pass Over), Lauren Yee (King of the Yees), Max Vernon (K-Pop), and Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (Dear Evan Hansen).

Since graduating, Andrew Rincón has found immense success as a New York-based playwright. His plays have been developed with Rising Circle Theatre Collective, INTAR, Amios, The Amoralists, Pork Filled Productions, and The 24 Hour Plays. He is the winner of the 2019 New Light New Voices award and the 2019 Chesley/Bumbalo Grant for writers of Gay and Lesbian Theatre.
