Todd earned his MFA in Lighting Design at Carnegie Mellon University, School of Drama. Mr. Wren designed the world premier productions of The Sabbath Girl directed by Joe Brancato, Stand by Your Man staring Jim Lauderdale and directed by Gabriel Barre, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland conceived and choregraphed by Chase Broc, Turned Funny directed by Fred Chappell, and the New York City premieres of The Fall to Earth directed by Joe Brancato, and A Dash of Rosemary written and directed by Doug Kampson.
Todd’s career spans the nation with more than 300 professional productions including designs for The Rubicon Theatre, Goodspeed Musicals, The Cleveland Playhouse, Seaside Musical Theatre, Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre, JFK Center for the Performing Arts, The Barter Theatre, Palm Beach Dramaworks, Florida Repertory Theatre, Riverside Theatre Vero Beach, Merrimack Repertory Theatre, Tennessee Repertory Theatre, Mosaic Theatre-DC, Pittsburgh Playhouse, Casa Manana, Coconut Grove Playhouse, Gainesville Theatre Alliance, North Carolina Shakespeare Festival, Charlotte Repertory Theatre, Flat Rock Playhouse, South Carolina Children’s Theatre, Penguin Repertory Theatre, Mill Mountain Theatre, Warehouse Theatre, Peoples Light and Theatre Company, John w. Engman Theatre, Cape Fear Regional Theatre, Blowing Rock Stage Company, Peterborough Players, Theatre in the Square, Arkansas Repertory Theatre, Temple Theatre, Ryman Auditorium, Playhouse on the Square, Town and Gown Theatre, and The State of Alabama Ballet.
Mr. Wren has provided commercial Lighting Design services for the Queen Elizabeth II, Station’s Casinos, Silver Dollar City, Nickelodeon Live, Paramount Parks, and Renaissance Cruise Lines.
Todd has applied his passion for light by using dichroic filters and fiber optics to create light sculptures. Todd collaborated with Brookgreen Gardens, Night of a Thousand Candles installation of Anne’s Garden and worked on Southern Lights by Bruce Munro.
Todd Wren is a vested member of IATSE/United Scenic Artist #829 for Lighting Design and serves on the United States Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT) – Lighting Commission.
