Ramone Nelson (’21)

School of Theatre graduate Ramone Nelson (BFA Music Theatre, 2021), who razzle-dazzled Tallahassee in roles like Billy Flynn in Chicago and Benny in In the Heights, has stepped into a new role. Ramone will be making his Broadway debut as a swing in the premiere production of MJ the Musical.

The show is inspired by the music of Michael Jackson and features a book by two-time Pulitzer prize-winning playwright Lynn Nottage. Ramone shared the news of his casting in October, saying:

Huge thanks to the entire company of MJ for welcoming me into this family, Rachel Hoffman and the Hybrid Agency for this opportunity, and forever and always giving praise to my man upstairs because… this is only the beginning!

Previews for MJ the Musical begin December 6th, and the show will premiere February 1st, 2022 at the Neil Simon Theatre. You can follow Ramone’s career at ramonenelson.com.
