Program Overview

Through production work students have many opportunities to serve in leadership roles such as Assistant Technical Director, Technical Director, or in production management. Here they hone their skills in communication, scheduling, material and labor budgeting, and project supervision. They also are able to master such areas as welding, carpentry, hydraulics, pneumatics, electronics, technical design, and computer applications with hands-on experience. Each MFA technical production student will be assigned multiple production roles focused to the individual’s career aspirations while at FSU.

The faculty and staff use the courses and production work to create professional managers for high profile jobs. Those who have gone through the program began careers in areas like technical direction, production management, arts management, theater consultation, and design of show control and stage automation.

In addition to applying to the program, students must also apply to Florida State University.
