As they overcome their inhibitions, self-doubt, and anxieties, the men learn to embrace themselves and find strength in camaraderie. The show features catchy music by David Yazbek and a heartwarming story by Terrence McNally, all with a good dose of humor and full of heart.

Anton Chekhov’s classic play “The Sea Gull” gets a modern twist in Jean-Claude van Itallie’s adaptation. The story still revolves around a group of artists and their intertwined lives at a summer estate. Madame Arkadina, a famous actress,arrives with her son Konstantin, an aspiring writer. There’s also the successful novelist Trigorin, who sparks romantic entanglements. Love, jealousy, and unfulfilled dreams play out against a backdrop of summer ennui. van Itallie’s version might incorporate modern language or references, offering a fresh perspective on Chekhov’s timeless themes of art, love,and loss.

Disguised as women, “Maxine” and “Stephanie” head to the Amish country of Pennsylvania to claim their inheritance. Romance, mistaken identities, and plenty of Shakespearean references ensue as Leo and Jack try to keep up their charade and win the hearts of the real nieces.
