Madeleine Martin

Madeleine Martin played the role of Becca Moody for seven seasons of Showtime’s Californication, Shelley Godfrey for two seasons of Netflix’s Hemlock Grove, and Madeleine on one season of Playhouse Disney’s Out of The Box. She performed in four Broadway productions including the Tony Award, Pulitzer Prize winning original Broadway production of Steppenwolf Theatre Company’s August: Osage County in which she originated the role of Jean Fordham. She was a recurring guest star in the third season of Amazon’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and a guest star on FX’s What We Do in The Shadows, CBS’s The Good Wife, and Criminal Minds, and NBC’s Law & Order and Law & Order SVU. Martin voiced the title roles of Fionna on Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time and Jojo on Playhouse Disney’s Jojo’s Circus, as well as several characters in Ice Age: The Meltdown. Off Broadway credits include Samuel D. Hunter’s The Harvest at Lincoln Center’s LCT3, and Simon Stephen’s Harper Regan at the Atlantic Theater Company. Martin is currently the voice of Fionna on HBO Max’s Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake. She presented a paper for the Association for Theatre in Higher Education’s 2024 panel entitled “Uplifting Marginalized Voices and Identity Formation”, and she is currently engaged in research involving the application of Linklater technique to voiceover work.

Ms. Martin’s research interests include the philosophy of aesthetics; the use of Artificial Intelligence and digital spaces in the creation of post-pandemic theatre; intervention theatre and autofiction in identity formation.
