Dori Waymer (Music Theatre ’18) Closes A Wonderful World at Miami New Drama

2018 Music Theatre graduate Dori Waymer recently closed Miami New Drama’s production of A Wonderful World. Waymer understudied the role of Daisy Parker in this new musical based on the life of Louis Armstrong. When asked about her role as an understudy, Waymer said,

Being an understudy is wild in its own way… Two days before we opened, we’d never had an understudy rehearsal and I had about a twenty-four-hour turnaround time to learn my understudy track in its entirety.

When asked what advice she would give to current students, Waymer encouraged,

Do your best to continue to believe in yourself. It’s hard in these streets! It’s hard in these streets! There’s no timeline for anything, and what’s for you may come right after graduating or years after. You just have to be ready for it when it comes. Keep pushing and keep believing in yourself. Y’all got this!
