On Friday, September 9, Florida State University’s School of Theatre hosted its Fall Fringe Fair in the Fine Arts Building’s Fallon Lobby. The event featured informational booths from theatre programs and student organizations, live performances and interactive demonstrations from faculty and staff.
“The Fall Fringe Fair is designed to bring our undergraduate students together and show them some of the amazing practical activities that the School of Theatre has to offer,” said Aaron Thomas, assistant professor and director of the School of Theatre’s BA program. “This event helps to build connections for these students and prepare them for their next steps at FSU and beyond.”
This event gave students the opportunity to meet faculty members and graduate students specializing in costumes, lighting, construction and more, as well as to connect with advising staff, who can assist them with managing their schedules and planning for their post-FSU futures.
The Fringe Fair also provided opportunities for School of Theatre students to showcase their work. Kiyrax Davis and Aaron Farabaugh performed a reprisal of their comedy-variety sketch piece “Four Wishes,” in the Fine Arts Building courtyard to an enthusiastic audience of their fellow students. The piece debuted at last semester’s Spring Fringe event, an annual performance festival hosted each spring semester by the School of Theatre.
Student designer Zachary Payne hosted a discussion on his work designing the costumes for this fall’s production of The Ruby Sunrise. Students attending the event learned about costume design and gained insight regarding Payne’s progress on the show.
Theatre-related student organizations, including the Black Acting Methods Society, Rogue Productions and Friday Night Live, set up informational booths at the event to recruit new members and network with fellow students.
