Rebecca Curran is a Ph.D. student in Theatre Studies. She received her Master of Liberal Arts in Dramaturgy from the American Repertory Theater/Moscow Art Theatre Institute for Advanced Theater Training at Harvard University and her Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from Florida State University. Her main research area is violence and national identity in Irish and Northern Irish theatre during the Northern Irish Conflict. As a dramaturg, she has worked on productions for the American Repertory Theater, the A.R.T. Institute, Harvard University, and Florida State University and is especially interested in new play development. She presented “The Great White [Male Author]: The Challenges and Ethics of Adapting from the Classical Canon through Dave Malloy’s Moby-Dick” at the conference for the International Federation for Theatre Research and “Violence and Humor in Contemporary Northern Irish Drama” at the conference for the Association for Theatre in Higher Education.
