School of Theatre alumnus Ryan Cole (MFA Technical Production 2016) was recently featured as a Member Spotlight in the August 2016 edition of Sightlines, a monthly newsletter for USITT (United States Institute for Theatre Technology, Inc.) members.
In the article, Cole discusses how a setback in high school led him away from athletics and down an unexpected path towards scenic construction and theatre. Cole expresses gratitude to the mentors who guided his education and shares his goal of inspiring future students in the technical theatre industry.
Prior to FSU, Cole received his undergraduate degree from East Carolina University (BFA Design and Production 2012) and worked as a scenic intern at CENTERSTAGE in Baltimore, MD. While at FSU, Cole served as the Technical Director for Ragtime and the Assistant Technical Director for Romeo & Juliet. Cole spent his final year as an intern with the prestigious rigging company, J.R. Clancy in Syracuse, NY. After graduation, Cole was hired by J.R. Clancy to serve as a Project Manager.
