School of Theatre
Daniel is an international and interdisciplinary theatre trainer whose work covers Acting, Movement, Voice, and Music. He has specific interests in student-centered learning, trauma and consent informed pedagogies, impulse in performative space, and new actor training methods.
Born and raised in the UK, he initially trained and worked as an Actor-Musician, before going on to work extensively in experimental physical theatre at the Grotowski Institute in Wrocław, Poland. Simultaneously, he volunteered with a variety of organizations across Europe, the Levant, and the Gulf States; and taught performance across Europe, and Central & East Asia. He subsequently completed his MFA in London and went on to teach at a variety of conservatoires and universities globally.
In addition to his work in theatre, Daniel has worked professionally as an accordionist and singer within the traditional Irish music scene for many years. Most notably, he was part of The Punchbowl Band signed to Decca Records, and recorded on the soundtrack for Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes under the direction of Hans Zimmer.
Daniel comes to FSU directly from the American University of Sharjah, where he developed specific intimacy training for Emirati cultural sensitivities, and built collaborations with training companies in Lebanon, Pakistan, and Oman. In 2022 he was awarded a UAE Golden Visa in recognition of his work as an arts practitioner.
