School of Theatre alum Montego Glover (BFA Music Theatre, 1996) returned to FSU this past Homecoming weekend for the annual Awards Breakfast where she received one of this year’s Grads Made Good Awards.
First established in 1974 by the FSU Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society, Grads Made Good has become notably the most distinguished honor presented to alumni. Since graduating from FSU, Glover has headlined hit Broadway musicals such as The Color Purple, Memphis, It Shoulda Been You, and Les Misérables. Her debut to the Broadway stage was in the 2005 production of The Color Purple as Celie and Nettie. Montego’s success continued as she originated the role of Felicia Farrell in Memphis. Her performance earned her a Tony Award® nomination for Best Lead Actress in a Musical and winning nominations for both the Outer Critics’ Circle and Drama Desk Awards. Montego also had the honor of performing for President Obama and the First Lady at Ford’s Theatre Society’s annual Fourth of July gala in Washington, D.C.
In addition to performing at nationally recognized theatre companies and concert venues, Glover has expanded her talents to television, film, and commercials. Notable television credits include The Following, Smash, White Collar, Law and Order, and The Good Wife. Some may recognize her voice in favorite childhood TV shows such as Dora the Explorer and Go, Diego, Go or as various avatars in the Star Wars Franchise.
After her visit to Tallahassee, Montego can be seen as a featured vocalist in Sinatra and Beyond as well as in the new musical, Sousatzka, headed to Broadway October 2017. Click Here to visit Montego’s website.
