FSU School of Theatre alumnus, Harris Milgrim (BFA Music Theatre, 2010) has been cast in the much-anticipated Broadway revival of Cats. Cats is set to begin previews July 14 and will officially open August 2 at the Neil Simon Theatre. Milgrim will be working with Tony Award® winners Trevor Nunn (Director – Cats, Les Misérables) and Andy Blankenbuehler (Choreographer – Hamilton, In the Heights). The musical will also feature British pop star Leona Lewis playing the role of Grizabella the Glamour Cat.
Based on T.S. Eliot’s book of poems about fantastically-named felines, “Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats,” Cats
immerses the audience in the world of “Jellicle Cats,” a special breed that sing about their unique qualities before gathering for a Jellicle Ball at which one among them is chosen to ascend to the supernatural “Heaviside Layer.” Cats features original music from Tony Award® winner Andrew Lloyd Webber. The original production opened in 1982 and became the longest running musical in Broadway history before closing in 2000 after 7,485 performances. For more information on Cats, visit their website.
Milgrim was recently seen in the New York workshops of King Kong and the Broadway-bound Anastasia. Milgrim has also performed with New York City Center Encores, the Signature Theatre, and the MUNY. For more information on Milgrim, visit his online portfolio.
